The National Television Awards '11... Winners!

Its one of the most anticipated award ceremonies of the year, held at London's O2 Arena and attended by the nations favourite TV Stars.

When it came to soaps, or Serial Dramas, the night belong to BBC1 soap Eastenders.

 

Nominated in three categories Eastenders won them all, picking up awards for best New Comer, Best Serial Drama performance and Best Serial drama.


The National Television Award for Best Newcomer went to Eastenders Ricky Norwood, for his portrayal of Walford Wideboy Arthur "Fatboy" Chubb. Despite his "street" outward persona, Fatboy has quickly become a fans favourite for his one liners, disastrous pulling technique and friendships with both Mercy and Dot!

 

Eastenders recently departed Lacey Turner beat off stiff competition from fellow Eastender Steve McFadden, Corries Katherine Kelly and Emmerdales Danny Miller to pick up the NTA award for Serial Drama Performance.

 

The past 12 months have seen Stacey, confess to murder, lose love of her life Bradley, give birth to daughter Lilly, struggle with her Bi-Polar disorder and start an affair with the father of her daughter, before leaving the square after a dramatic Christmas Day show down with love rival Janine Malloy, its been a busy and dramatic year for both Stacey and Lacey.

 

Then came the biggie, The Award for Best Serial Drama.

It has been an amazing 12 months in the wonderful world of soap, with a Train crash, The Aaron and Jackson story, and Chas's revenge plan in Emmerdale, Tram crash, explosions and heartbreak in Corrie and Murders,affairs and the fire in Hollyoaks, Eastenders saw off strong competition to take the best Serial Drama crown.

"I thought that Corrie would be in with a good chance because it was their 50th anniversary, they had a great live episode, the tram crash - brilliant, fantastic. I really thought they'd win it. It goes to show that EastEnders just gets stronger and stronger every year."
